the storm. it was big. it was long. it scared me a little. it shook the house and it took out our power for four days::
meanwhile, here's a shot from big b's week. that's him, backcountry snowboarding in the wilds of colorado. he missed the entire event and the subsequent power outage::
and so i learned to operate both a generator and a snowblower (thank you uncle jimmy). with this lifeline, we saved the fridge!::
if it weren't such an obvious health hazard, i would kiss the power line to our house each night before bed. four days was a long haul. it is important to note that we have well water. no power to the well pump means no running water in the house. but still plenty of sticky hands and toilets that need to be flushed. by the fourth night i was collecting buckets of snow to melt by the fire, having exhausted the store in the bathtub. yay for the return of the hum. and i hope all other cape codders, who are still out, will be joining us shortly!
happy valentines day to all of you! our love fest will be postponed for just a bit i think, as things fall back into place around here. i'll pull something together for tonight but the planned baked goods will have to follow one by one and maybe last the weekend. i'm not complaining. an extended valentines day sounds very good right now. perfect even.
