two very exciting events! last weekend i made it back down to visit nej in brooklyn. another little bite of city life. it was fun, delicious and craftingly educational::
that mural is great right? it changes up and is painted on! i would love to see that in the works. after a significant amount of exploring and eating, shopping and more eating, we headed to soho for an embroidery class at purl! one we have been trying to coordinate for quite a while::
i could spend a whole day in that shop. we signed up for the custom monogram embroidery class. three hours that felt like 10 minutes. they should really turn it into a weekend retreat::
our class was lead by jessica marquez, a very talented embroideress who lives in brooklyn. find her blog here and her book here. i just ordered myself a copy. she is such a knowledgeable (and patient) teacher. she shared many of her crafty tips with us. for example: staining the hoops! i left filled with inspiration and much, much more know-how. if i lived closer i would have signed up for her two part embroidery class before leaving the store. maybe i should plan one more trip.
